Simple Chicken Curry with Thick n Smooth Gravy|Indian Style|Hot n Spicy


Simple Chicken Curry with Thick n Smooth Gravy is a very simple recipe, where you do not have to spend much time at the stove, except for occasional stirring. The highlight of the curry is its thick and smooth gravy, suitable to serve with Indian breads and rice dishes.

Ingredients:

Chicken – 1lb/450 g;

For marination – 1 tsp each of salt, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, any chicken masala powder (optional) and lemon/lime juice;

For the gravy – 1 cup diced onions, 5-6 cloves of garlic, 1 inch piece of ginger, 2 dry red chillies, 2 tbsp shredded coconut, 1 bay leaf, 5 cloves, 1 inch piece of cinnamon;

Cooking oil – 2 tbsp;
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp;
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp;
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp;
Tomato – 1/2 cup pureed/chopped;
Water – 1/2 to 1 cup;
Salt and black pepper powder – to taste;
Sugar – 1 tsp;
Lime/lemon juice – 1 tsp;
Coriander leaves to garnish.

  1. dear april flower. firstly mere bohott shukriya to u for this beautiful recipe. i tried it yday step by step. i invited my frnd to kunch at my hse. btw i am a malaysian malay. and all i want to say abt this recipe is….subahanallah…its really delicious. what made me interested in this recipe was that u pre fried d chicken. i actually am not a chicken curry type. but this recipe is so fimger licking good. d colour is so beautiful. the thickness is simply fabulous. but i did not add d dried chillies and d other spicy pdr bcoz my guests do not favour too hot curries. i love d colour of d gravy. and all i can say is yr simple chicken curry is really a special dish. insyallah…i shall cook this dish for my frnds on eid mubarak. i hope u wld share more delightful recipes so that all yr followers cld prepare authentic dishes for their fmly, frnds and loved ones. all d best april flower…..

  2. thank you so much thushara….did i spell your name right.. 😉 … well ..i think i did…anyways….its my first time to prepare chicken curry …and you know what… it turned out great….but…my salt ratio was little off …no.. waaay off..hehee…..so how much salt should i add for …say about 600 g of chicken
